DOES MAS ACCEPT RELIGIOUS DUES (KHUMS?)

Yes. All jurists and religious authorities confirm that the topmost priority in spending khums is

supporting religious educational and academic activities. Funding hawzah studies, religious

scholars, and publishing and spreading Islamic teachings are examples of the projects MAS is

engaged in.

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN I.M.A.M. AND MAS?

MAS is a totally independent 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. However, I.M.A.M., as the primary

supportive organization, helps MAS in all capacities. .

WHY IS MAS LOCATED IN THE D.C. AREA?

Besides reasons such as the importance of the capital city as one of the most important central

academic locations in North America, the MAS project relies on qualified academic religious

scholars and a weighty and well-known university that accepts Shia studies and is ready to

affiliate with us. Because of these very important elements, MAS started its project in this area.

Nonetheless, wherever an opportunity appears with community support, MAS will inshaAllah

duplicate its project.
